Discovery Learnerships 2015 – 2016

Every year Discovery Health offers people previously disadvantaged individuals from different communities various learnership opportunities. These learnerships are part of the government’s National Skills Development Strategy to ease poverty by instilling people with skills that can lead to gainful employment.

Discovery is an authorised financial services provider. Discovery Health administers Discovery Health Medical Scheme, South Africa’s largest open medical aid. Discovery offers a wide range of health plans from the most basic to the most complete cover.

Discovery offers various learnerships, under the auspices of the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA). The qualifications are Unit Standard Based and will be accredited by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).

Discovery Learnerships are open to those with the necessary qualification required to study for the certificates that will be earned at the completion of the learnership.

All learnerships consist of both theoretical and practical training in that particular field, and learners must complete all aspects of the training and compile a Portfolio of Evidence in order to qualify for the certificate. Learners will earn a monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership.
